Gran Turismo HD Cancelled

This just in; Gran Turismo HD has been cancelled. What certainly would have been a killer-app for the new PlayStation 3 has been scrapped, and the good ship Polyphony has turned all hands on deck towards developing Gran Turismo 5.

Now the slightly better news: Japanese PS3 gamers can get a taste of "The Drive of your Life" by downloading a stripped-down version of GTHD, for a limited time starting December 24. Unfortunately, there is no mention as to whether this crosses the Pacific, but we can hope! This sample features 10 cars and 1 track, with no mention of any of those microtransactions.

In case you hadn't heard, GTHD was set to release with few cars and tracks on the Blu-ray disc you buy in store. Instead, you were to buy more cars and tracks for a nominal fee online. Does that sound like a cash-grab to you? This could mean that GT5 will be developed with that same premise.

As if there wasn't enough uncertainty in the GT series for you to handle, there's also no word as to when Gran Turismo 4 Mobile for the PSP will be launched.
